and I started this blog in early 2012 as a way to journal our love of cooking
& baking. I am a self-taught baker,
cook, photographer, and I've learned through many attempts of trial and error. I find that when I am in the kitchen I am the
most happiest-I simply love creating
art through food. I’m not the most artistic
person in the world, so being able to express myself through food, photography & writing is amazing. I love it!
I have THE best taste-tester in the
world, Gavin. He gives me his honest opinion
& tips for improving recipes. I only post food that we both love. There are plenty of recipes that I choose not to post simply because we are only just satisfied with them.
We have two cats that I just love to pieces. They will pop up occasionally-mainly on my instagram feed. Other than that, we have 5 geckos, lots of fishies & 2 pigmy chameleons-it's a full house!
I believe that you should have a relationship with the food that you eat. Food should be fresh, nourishing, and able to sustain you throughout the day. It can help improve your mood, increase clarity, and make you feel better about yourself. I’m a little new to the game and learning about the different theories about food, so please feel free to follow Helena and myself in this journey!
Other than my love for food, I have a fantastic partner,
Hank. Hank is a great support in my cooking endeavors, and his palate is
amazing! He’s able to help me determine what went wrong with a recipe, and how
I can improve it for later. When not in the kitchen and at work, Hank and I are
walking our dogs, Emma and (the new addition!) Cleo.

here! Like Helena, I am also a self-taught baker, cook and photographer. My
love for all things food stems from an early childhood of comforting
Filipino-Canadian cuisine, as well as reinforced by an adventurous attempt to
recreate this food as I ventured off into the world by myself (note: nothing
tastes as good as Mom’s home cooking).
