Strawberry Banana Chia Smoothie

If you didn’t know it was January, you could probably tell by what’s currently posted on pinterest or foodgawker.  Everyone is busting out healthy recipes.   I am feeling guilty over indulging too much over the holidays so I am trying to fix that and eat better.  Or drink better-like smoothies!!! They aren’t normally a part of my morning routine but I like to have it once in a while.  It’s a special treat & shakes things up!!! 

I quite enjoyed this smoothie.   You can’t go wrong with a strawberry-banana flavor.  I thought it would be a little thin at first but the chia seeds & oats seem to thicken it up.  A little bit of vanilla helps round it out even more so don’t skimp on that.  It left me feeling full for a very long time after!
Strawberry Banana Chia Smoothie
Makes 2-4 servings (depending on size!)

INGREDIENTS
2 cups strawberries
1 banana
2 cups milk
½ cup oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coconut shavings

DIRECTIONS
Place all the ingredients in a blender. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes then blend until smooth. Serve.

  1. Love the addition of chia seeds! I've been trying to add them to as many things as possible and smoothies are perfect! Beautiful pics :)
